Cat Attack!

Patches got attacked by a cat on our morning walk today. We all know this cat is crazy, every time we see it comes after us with fangs bared. Usually I just run. This morning I didn't see it in time and Patches went to sniff it. In a flurry of fluffed fur and claws, it attacked! Patches started to yelp and lay down on the sidewalk. I dropped my coffee and using my full body weight I was able to drag my dog along the sidewalk out of the cat's reach. I then grabbed my mug and dragged my dog another block before he gave up on trying to get back to the cat.

Patches is fine, I'm embarrassed that my dog got whupped by a cat and the cat is probably still hiding under that SUV waiting for us to pass by tomorrow morning.

Home Sweet Home!

Jon and I returned from Ontario Saturday evening after an exhausting week back east. We spent the first half of the week with family in Kitchener area and then took tuesday to head north to the beautiful town of Bancroft. Then we traveled to Toronto for the rest of the week. Exhausting...
We are glad to be back in Alberta and relaxing in our own place again. I think Patches is very glad that we are home again although he did enjoy his week with Auntie Mairi, Mike and Mic.
We are not glad to be heading back to work tomorrow but it is only 6 more weeks until vacation again.

Traveling to...

Ontario! So its not exactly an exotic location and its definatly not going to be sun and surf at this time of the year, but it should be a nice break from work.

In the next week we're doing a whirlwind tour of Banden, Cambridge, Bancroft and Toronto. I'm looking forward to Chinatown and Kensington - I haven't been in a few years. Should be a good visit with the family as well.

Laser Pointers and Patches

It began innocently enough with Patches chasing after a reflection from my father in-law's (Gord's) watch when he was visiting at the beginning of the December. A few weeks later, Patches received a brand new laser pointer in the mail. And now he's obsessed.

For Gord's (and anyone else's) viewing pleasure, I've loaded some videos of him here (a little grainy but still ok). They are better without the sound (or you have to listen to Jon and I laughing and talking).

We think its quite funny, but worry about the long term effects on Patches' mental health. He's not that stable to start with.

Happy Birthday Patchers!

Its also Patches' birthday today - he's now 2 years old. Hard to believe the little guy is no longer a puppy.
